The Wild Card

Alex Calvin Eastman is better known as Ace to his friends. His family is extremely rich and they live in a mansion-sized house on the outskirts of the small town of Greengale. Ace is fun loving and carefree, just like his two best friends, Mike and William. He's also very calm and collected, not easily ruffled by even the most adverse of circumstances, and seems to have a way of knowing how things will work out.

Ace is truly a wild card, extremely unpredictable, always full of surprises, and in most cases, a useful asset to the group. Still, his ego tends to get the better of him and he can be extremely annoying at times, even to some of his closest friends. Ace doesn't necessarily believe the rules apply to him and will often do what he feels is right instead of what he's told to do.

Tabatha

Even when he was young, Ace always had a way with girls. Most of them would swoon over the tall, handsome boy who was heir to the Eastman fortune. Ace prided himself on being able to sweet-talk any girl he wanted. This all changed when Tabatha Wright moved to Greengale. Unfamiliar with the Eastman legacy, Tabatha was not impressed when he attempted to charm her the first day he met her at the Guardman household. Unnerved by this, Ace tried constantly to get into Tabatha's good graces, each attempt more futile then the last. It was clear that she was intrigued by him, but wouldn't give him the satisfaction of easily succumbing to his advances.

Over the years, however, Ace and Tabatha became good friends and slowly developed a relationship. Though neither of them openly admit it, it's obvious that the two have become attached to one another. Ace still prides himself on being a lady's man, but it's clear he only has eyes for Tabatha and even though she still playfully spurs his advances, everyone knows that Ace did finally win her over.

They truly could have been the perfect couple.

11, 337 Years Later...

Ace's life was changed forever the day Henry Simmons tried to quicken his friends to Mendala. Many members of the group were thrown backward in Mendalian time due to a dimensional rift and Henry's inexperience, but Ace was catapulted farther back in time than any known instance of [Temporal Quickening]. He ended up 11,337 years in the past, to the year 38,396 TS. Not too much is known about the time that he spent on the planet waiting for the present to catch up with him. He surely experienced and contributed to many elements in Mendalian history but Ace does not readily reveal everything he did in Mendala's past. Some things he talks freely about, while others he tends to keep to himself.

It is clear that Ace was visited by a messenger of Elohim that helped him throughout his lengthy stay on Mendala and told him when and where to find his friends. For whatever reason, Ace was not allowed to gather his friends together on his own, but rather allow them to congregate when the time was right. Once again, little is known about the reason behind this.

Ace never aged because of the nature of the quickening accident and because of this he constantly went from identity to identity, forming as few ties as possible. This was most likely a very lonely existence. No one but Ace knows how close he came to some of the people he met. However it is clear that in the last century before reaching his present, he met, and fell in love with a young mandant named Alice Verning. His relationship with her became as deep as it was with Tabatha. Though he tried hard not to develop an attachment, there relationship blossomed until he had to leave to begin monitoring the actions on his friends as they began to arrive on Mendala at different points in time. After 10 years, he was finally able to rejoin his friends, but a new complication had arisen.

Tabatha had mysteriously joined Davron's side and professed to be his loving wife. Though he had seen Tabatha arrive safely on Mendala, he had not kept a close watch on her because she was staying in the peaceful city of Gilmore, and so was completely unaware of what circumstances caused her to turn from friend to foe. Though Tabatha has tried to kill Ace on multiple occasions since becoming Davron's wife, he still holds hope that her change is a result of some treachery by Davron and that he will be able to return Tabatha to her former self.

Ace was devastated by the fact that Tabatha was now his enemy, and found comfort once again in Alice, who had recently been made a guardian. Though they had spent 10 years apart, Alice's love for Ace never wained and they were reunited in her hometown of [Weedmount] after an attack by Davron and a particularly vicious fight between Ace and Tabatha. Torn between his feelings for the two girls, Ace wanted more than anything not to become attached to Alice or anyone again, but this proved to be impossible.

This only made it harder for Ace when, only a few days after being reunited with Alice, she was brutally killed by Tabatha. It's clear that Ace blames himself for everything that happened. Even though the death of Alice shook him to the core, he still believes with all his heart that Tabatha can be returned to normal. He knows that she cannot be on Davron's side, and is determined to get her back no matter what the cost.
