Acme is an independent city in the
[Cirinian Valley] on the northern content of
Lumaria. This city is unusual in two ways.
- It is the only dictatorship government legally sanctioned by the Fantasmal Government
- It is entirely populated by cartoons.
Origins
Acme was not always an animated city. Founded in 38,012 TS by [Johnathan Acme] an extremely wealthy merchant whose entrepreneurial skills rivaled that of the famous Stokenshires. Acme built the city as a headquarters for his global business endeavors. His dream was to make [Acme Products] a household name. Acme's mentus-based product line was extremely innovative and he always hired the best and brightest mentants to help with creating new products.
Acme had some of the most advanced labs for mentus experimentation. However it was this continuous experimentation that caused the catastrophe that would change the city of Acme and all its citizens forever. Acme was built in the area of a large and extremely unstable [Dimensional Rift]. Rifts were generally uncommon and there had been very little study of them before the TA era. When this rare phenomenon was finally discovered, several different experiments were conducted.
Though the mentant scientists were careful, the rift proved to be far too dangerous. The rift's power was exploited in 39,212 TS by one of the residents of the city, a 12-year-old boy who was the son of one of the scientists and an extremely gifted genius. It's unknown exactly what happened, only that while the young, would-be scientist was trying to use his father's lab without permission, he caused the most destructive mentus accident ever recorded. He unwittingly triggered an [Origin Event] creating a new dimension with the rift. It's creation killed thousands of people in Acme and the rest were sucked into the newly created dimension.
This new dimension had completely different proprieties that were based on the imagination of the young boy. The world and people within turned bright colors and gained unnatural abilities that completely defied normal laws or nature. Because the rules within this dimension were so different from the normal world it caused reality to break down as the fledgling dimension expanded.
After three days, the entire city of Acme as well as much of the land around it had been consumed by the dimension and it showed no sign of stopping. Presumably, it would have continued to swallow the world if it had not been for the timely arrival of Epsilon, the dimensional gatekeeper. Epsilon used his power to seal the dimension so that it could no longer expand. Because there were still thousands of people living within Acme who had not been killed, Epsilon could not destroy the new dimension. Instead, with the help of the young boy who gave birth to the dimension, Epsilon gave the new reality structure and dimensional laws so that it could safely exist on Mendala without causing either world to be disrupted.
Epsilon was the first to call the new reality and its inhabitants "cartoons." Because of the unique abilities granted to the transformed citizens, they could not be allowed to travel freely. However they soon found that within their small dimension they could create endless space to do whatever they liked because of the properties granted by the young boy's imagination. Though Acme had physical boundaries to the outside world, it was limitless thanks its cartoon-like properties and the people within lived forever.
Because it was the young boy who caused the origin effect, he controlled the dimension. Epsilon taught him how to maintain that control and prevent further dimensional catastrophes from occurring. Though he was reluctant to assume the position, the boy became the ruler of Acme and soon was referred to only as the "Director." Despite the horrific disaster that formed the animated town of Acme, the cartoon citizens added to the world of Mendala in a completely new way.
The "Director"
The director is the sole government of Acme. There is no legislation, no judicial system, no other form of leadership or law in the city of Acme. Officially, this form of government is a dictatorship, which is illegal. However, due to the unique nature of the city the Fantasmal Government sanctioned the perpetual, unending, and unquestionable rule of the Director of the city.
The director not only controls Acme but every single animated citizen. Nothing animated is allowed to leave Acme without the directors permission, which is rarely given. In addition, most agencies of the Fantasmal Government including the [Special Investigation Services], [Guardian Council], and the [Fantasmal Court] have no jurisdiction within the boundaries of the city.

This is the "Hollywood" of Mendala. Acme Productions creates almost all of the theatrical performances and serials. These are shown live throughout the world via quickener, or stored in Melivian quartz for those who wish to watch the productions later.
This is the closest thing to an amusement park on Mendala. Acme Tourists from all over the world visit to see live shows, ride thrilling rides, and meet their favorite animated stars.
Located just outside Acme's animated boundaries, Acme Products was reestablished by bringing together the greatest scientific minds from around the world to continue vision of the original founder of Acme. However, the proceeds of company now all go to various charities. Acme Products donated heavily to the Sunnin Social System before its dissolution at the end of the TS era. In addition, Acme Products continues to lead the way in mentus research.
