Acumen

Born from the remnants of the [Normalian Empire], Acumen is a kingdom on the Continent of Sunntondra. It borders the [Lost Plains] in the north, [Marshroot] in the south, and the [Great Normali River] to the west. Acumen is a country that prides itself on intellectual mastery. The Acumens are always pushing the limits of science and because of this some of the greatest inventions of the TA era have come from this nation including: [melnet], [mether], [the orcrus]. and Glass Quartz to name a few.

Acumen's government is a combination of Monarchy and Representative. There is a royal leader who rules over the entire land and has the power to create national policy. The king is also a diplomat and commands the royal army. The king or queen has a high council and a chancellor who is second to the throne. The chancellor serves the royal family and the country and stays chancellor until a new one is selected by the reigning king or queen.

The royal family stays in power until their are no direct heirs to pass the crown to. In such cases the royal guardian is called upon to choose a new ruler. Their are no boundaries on who the guardian picks, however it is usually a member of the extended royal family.

There are also twelve heads of state. Each head is voted on by the citizens of that region and they remain in office for 40 years. The heads of state advocate for their regions, create new legislation, and combined can overrule the reigning monarch if they feel a royal decree is unjust.

Acumen has had several major wars. Because the kingdom is the leading producer of high quality armor, there have been many powers that have wanted to control the country. The most recent and most notable war was in 9,995 TA when the distant country of [Elgaurd] mounted a major attack using superior mentus and mandamus. They managed to destroy the capital city and leave the royal army and monarchy in ruins. It was suspected, after the death of King Tiberius IV. However the arrival of Ben Wilson turned the tide of the war back in the Acumen's favor. Afterwords, Ben was crowned King Benjamin I and led the country into a new age of prosperity and armor production. In addition he rebuilt the Kingdom to be more impervious to attack and forged a strong alliance with the southern country of Marshroot.
