A Sunny Disposition
Ashley is the friendliest person in the group. As Tabatha Wright put it, Ashley would "like a bulldog even if it bit [her]." Her blond hair and bubbly personality often makes her the butt of "dumb blond" jokes, but she takes it all in stride.
Ashley's best friend and loyal companion is Allen Guardman. They have been best friends since before either of them can remember. When they were 10-years-old, Ashley suffered a serious trauma that redefined their friendship forever. She almost died when she fell into a pit in the woods that surrounded Greengale. Allen blamed himself for her accident because he was not with her at the time, even though he had promised to go with her into the woods. After the accident, he hardly ever left her side and Ashley has grown to rely on his constant presence in her life. Ashley depends on Allen in many ways and he is extremely protective of her.
Though Ashley is not really the "adventure" type, Mrs. Guardman convinced her to join the A&A Club with Allen. Still shaken by her childhood trauma, Ashley was extremely apprehensive at first, but the group helped her become more confident and capable.
The One and Only Daughter of the Sun
On Mendala, Ashley is the Daughter of the Sun, a unique individual with powers separate from mentus and mandamus that are powered by the sun. There can only be one Daughter of the Sun at any given time. This person is always a female and a direct descendant of Ester Fantas, the first Daughter of the Sun and wife of the first Fantasma.
Ashley gained her powers shortly before being transported to Mendala. Unbeknownst to Ashley, her Aunt Sharon was the Daughter of the Sun. Sharon knew her death would be premature because it was Ashley's destiny to go to Mendala and help fight against the Davron and the Book of War. This was why she gave Ashley her seal before she left to go to the Isle of Adventure. After Sharon's death, her powers were transfered to Ashley, who was next in the line of Ester as Sharon had no daughters of her own.
When Ashley discovers her secret legacy, she is extremely resistant, especially because of the danger it puts her in. When the Book of War was first opened, the power of the five jewels was linked with the unique powers of the Daughter of the Sun. Because of this, Ashley has control of them, which makes her a constant target for Davron and his creatures. Until he successfully kills her, he has no hope of using the jewels in his plans for dimensional domination.
Ashley receives insight into her newfound powers by the original Daughter of the Sun, Ester, who returns from beyond the grave to mentor her and after a while Ashley grows into her abilities as well as the social responsibilities that come with being the Daughter of the Sun. (see the main article on the Daughter Of The Sun.)
Later, Allen is made Ashley's guardian, which magnified their already close bond. However, all of her friends are committed to protecting her and she has allies in the Stokenshires, a long-lived family who are honor-bound to serve and give aid to the Daughter of the Sun in anyway they can. Most of the Stokenshires are extremely skilled in a particular area of expertise and have significant wealth and influence around the world.
Though Ashley has many friends and allies, she knows deep down that it is still up to her to see to it that the mission is completed. She is the only one who can control the five jewels and she is the only one who can give hope back to the people of Mendala.
