Bacilla

bacilla.jpg

The bacilla is a powerful weapon of elfish origin. Designed in 5321 TS, the bacilla is made of rockwood, (the same wood used for fashioning quickener staffs); udora, a rare type of metal only found in some Lumarian mountains, several types of quartz, and imbibed with elfish mentus and mandamus.

Bacillas are approximately 40 inches long and have three small, sharp, wing shaped blades at the end. The bacilla is considered a living weapon. Like quickener staffs, they bond with their owner. Unlike quickener staffs, a bacilla can be transfered to anyone and it can establish a new bond with a different owner.

Bacillas can extend and contract at the owner's will. They also have the ability to store mentus energy which can be used in attacks. The bacilla can also be thrown and in almost all cases it will return to its owner. It also has certain defensive capabilities. It will protect itself and it's owner from harm. It can self repair, and it can be summoned both consciously and unconsciously by its owner.

Bacilas are rare and not many smiths know how to make and repair them. Because of their uniqueness, superb mental discipline and adimus clarity are required to use it. Only about a hundred of the weapons have ever been made.
