Hidden Ambition
Ben comes from a long line of scientists and technicians on both sides of his family, all of whom were brilliant in their own right. It's no surprise that he excelled in academia, a straight "A" student and extremely savvy in all areas of technology and electronics. At the end of his high school career, Ben was accepted into a prestigous college and everyone expected great things from him in that area.
However this is not Ben's true passion. Though he loves to tinker with electronics and technology, Ben has no desire to be just a technician or scientist. He enjoys challenges and new discoveries. He often enjoys finding new problems and using his technical expertise to solve them by creating something new or expanding on existing ideas.
This thirst for challenges is what attracted Ben to the Action and Adventure Club. Though not as inclinded towards thrill-seeking as some of the other members, he does enjoy new experiences and meeting challenges with his mind as opposed to just brute force. Because of this, he has always been an asset to the group, due to his abillity to think outside the box. Most of the other members respect Ben for his logical thinking but it can also be frustrating when he starts to analyze a situation from every angle.
The Rise of a King
During the quickening accident, He was sent over five years into Mendalian past and found himself in the Kingdom of Acumen during a major war. While trying to avoid the many battles that were raging, Ben sought out information on quickening to try and find out what had happened to him and the others. His learned a great deal about mentus, quickening, and quartz and it was during the course of his studies that he stumbled upon a theory on how to us quickeners in a plan to help the Acumens win the war that was being waged on them.
His plan was a success and the Acumens were grateful to him. The previous king had been killed in battle and when the time came to choose a new ruler, the head guardian crowned Ben. He dedicated his regime to improving Acumen defenses and turning his country into the world's leading armory producer. Ben also harnessed his inventive nature, combining Earth technology with mentus to create items like the highly popular orcrus, and his personal computerized device, Lisa, the Limitless Interactive Storage Archives. Ben's competence as a monarch brought Acumen into an era of peace and prosperity unlike any in the country's history. Now Acumen is one of the most powerful nations in the world.
When his friends arrived in Acumen, Ben left his country in the capable hands of his chancellor, Christopher Rogowski, who is second in command in the country's governmental hierarchy, as well as a trusted and loyal friend. Ben's status as the king of a powerful nation is helpful at times, but his logical thinking and his ability to work through complex problems is even more useful.
