Dimensional Gatekeeper

(Supernal Being)

A servant of Elohim commonly known as just a "gatekeeper." It is not known how many gatekeepers there actually are as only one has ever been referenced throughout Mendalian History, Epsilon. Gatekeepers are mortals who have been blessed with significant power and privilege. They watch over the multiple dimensions that make up the universe as a whole.

A gatekeeper's powers and abilities are said to be gifts directly from Elohim and they are often called upon to perform certain tasks that require the dimensional skill that only a gatekeeper possesses. There is no way to know how a gatekeeper is chosen or how long they serve. However evidence suggests that a gatekeeper can be retired and the power passed to another.

Gatekeepers are granted the following supernatural gifts:

  • An infinite lifespan. Not to be confused with being immortal or impervious to harm. This simply means that gatekeepers can live forever.
  • Omni-Adaptability. Gatekeepers can exist in any environment, regardless of atmosphere or climate (including outer space). They can also speak any language and adjust their appearance.
  • Dimensional sensory and perception. This gives the gatekeeper the ability to sense things on a "dimensional" level beyond anything a mortal's normal five senses or adimus senses could tell them. It's also what allows them to use their dimensional powers, and perform certain tasks.
  • Divine connection. Gatekeepers are always attuned to the heavenly realm and are often contacted by other supernal beings on behalf of Elohim.

In addition to this, a gatekeeper is given a dimensional staff that gives them the bulk of their powers and abilities. Without this artifact, the gatekeeper is essentially as powerless as any mortal although he will still be able to perform certain limited tasks and will still have the supernatural gifts mentioned above.

In general a gatekeeper's dimensional staff can be used by anyone with the skills to master it, but these people are rare. A person must have some level of dimensional sensory before they can use these types of staffs.

The gatekeeper staff allows its owner to:

  • Move freely between dimensions (as well as transport anyone or anything else)
  • Shift and reshape dimensions
  • Link dimensions at a specific time and place
  • Grant dimensional powers to anyone or anything
  • Locate anyone or anything
  • Seal dimensions / rifts
  • Destroy or create dimensional voids

Gatekeepers are different from most other supernal beings because they are in fact still mortals, chosen by Elohim to perform these duties. Like all other mortals, gatekeepers are bound to certain universal rules, the most important of which is time. Gatekeepers cannot move forward in time (only backward) even though they can move across dimensional lines. They become bound by the flow of time that governs that dimension. Gatekeepers, like other mortals also have complete free will.

Gatekeepers must eat, sleep, and perform all of the other "mundane" activities that consume a mortal life. In addition they can be harmed or even killed, however because of their powers this is extremely unlikely. Gatekeepers do not age, although they can adjust their appearance to look any age and adapt to the appearance of the people around him.
