Who Is Henry Simmons?

It's a very good question because even his friends tend not to know him too well. In a group of teens who each have a story, Henry's seems to be the one left untold. He's quiet and keeps to himself, his only semi-strong bond being with Allen Guardman, who is admittedly "friends with everyone." Henry seems very normal. He doesn't come from a broken or fractured home, he has lived in Greengale all his life and never really had an objection to it. He doesn't particularly like or dislike any of the members of the Action and Adventure Club and he seldom fights with anyone or puts himself in a position where he's noticed.

He's just Henry...

In fact the question could be raised: Why did Henry join the A&A Club to begin with. This too is uncertain. He simply came up to Jandor when he was 15 and requested membership and Jandor accepted him without much question. Henry is short but tends not to let this be a shortcoming. He can hold his own on most of the club's trips and though he does tend to be skittish and uncertain at times, he tries not to complain too much.

All in all, Henry is the most ordinary member of the team and as far as anyone knows, there is no story to tell about this young but fairly capable member.

Resident Quickener

Henry is in fact the descendant of [Zechariah Ibson], a [quickener] made famous because he was one of the [Five Warriors] and also because Zechariah had incredibly rare quickener abilities that allowed him to manipulate time in certain circumstances. These abilities were passed down to Henry along with Zechariah's abilities and staff.

It was [Fantasma Darius Wavemore] who gave Henry his ancestor's staff when he met the A&A Club on the uncharted island on Earth. Because the staff was Zechariah's it connected with Henry. For a brief period of time, before Henry broke it, the staff even spoke to him with the voice of Zechariah.

It was because of Henry that the A&A Club members were transported to Mendala. When Davron attacked and tried to seal them in the cave, Henry used his quickener staff for the first time to allow their escape. However his untrained skills are what caused his friends to be scattered not only across the planet but also to different points in time, making this the largest quickening accident ever record in history up to that point, (though notably this is now the second largest quickening accident as it was upstaged shortly thereafter).

Since then though, Henry has been an exceptional quickener and has mastered the skill in a fraction of the time it takes most people to learn it. Henry was mentored by the famed [Dr. James Landerpool] and quickly learned to control his untrained temporal abilities. He is also friends with Sharanel Quicksilver, Fantasmal Quickener and widely agreed to be one of top quickeners in the world.

Now Henry is the Resident Quickener of the Fantasmal Fighters and as such his name is called (or screamed) more often than any other name in the group. Henry is constantly on call and constantly under the stress of his position, often being called upon to do tasks far beyond what any normal quickener would have to do on a day-to-day basis. Though Henry does complain a little more than he used to, he still tends to be a relatively silent member of the team. He does his job to the best of his ability and is always willing to do his part for the group.

Though he may not think so at times, Henry is one of the most valuable members of the team and the others recognize that without him, they would be severely weakened as a group.
