Mentus

Mentus is an adimus based ability that allows a person to use certain words that are mentally projected into another realm, known as the mentant realm. This can cause any number of results depending on the words used and the intentions and skill of the person.

Mentus is an ancient Mendalian word that means "to ask.". The mentant realm is also known as the "realm of the heavens." It is best described as another plain of existence where a person can see and even hear things that occur mentantly.

History

Mentus came into existence at the beginning of recorded time (this is because mentus is used to tell time), 19,121 PM. The first epouranal mages were the first ones able to use the skill and they taught it to anyone who was willing to learn. The ming mage classification was adopted in 19,009 PM as mentus users advanced to the point of being able to create permanent physical manifestations using their abilities. The epouranals devised a test to distinguish someone of mind mage caliber. A mentant had to create a special type of quartz called mentant quartz before they were considered a mind mage.

In 18,982 PM the first school of mentus was established to formally teach the skill and shortly after in 18,012 PM the first masters schools for advanced mentus were established. Schools of mentus were only available to the rich up until the TA era. In 3,034 TS, the Sunnin Social System established public school systems which included mentus training.  Currently almost 75% of the world's population is able to learn mentus at either public or private schools.

Mentus Classification

Mentant-Non

Approximately 60% of the world's population is mentant-non. This is the most common adimus classification in the world. A mentant non, is a person who learns mostly mentus and some basic mandamus commands. Rational for this is that most professions require mentus but knowledge of basic mandamus usually gives people a higher skill level. Most mentant nons only learn less than a dozen basic mamdamus commands to supliment their mentus skills.

In professions where adimus classification is important, mentant non's wear mentant-blue robes with mandant-puple belts or sashes.

Mentant

Making up approximately 20% of the world's populous, a mentant is a person who only learns mentus. Mentants are almost always in training to become mind mages. Because of the level of admius energy it requires to acheive mind mage status, it is impossible to learn any mandamus and still become a mind mage. Thus, people who want to obtain mind mage level, only learn and use mentus. Not every mentant has the skills and perseverance to become a mind mage and some eventually give up or become mentant nons.

In professions where adimus classification is important, mentants wear mentant-blue robes with white belts or sashes.

Mind Mage

A mind mage is the most powerful standard mentus classification. A mind mage is distinguished by their ability to create something permenant from their mentus (such as a piece of furniture). In addition, mind mages can view the mentant realm and the physical realm simultaneously, they have keener mentant sense, and can harness energy in unique ways. A mentant becomes a mind mage when they can create mentus quartz, which they can then use to increase their mentus abilities.

Mind mages are far more powerful than every other noraml adimus classification except guardians. Because of this, mind mages usually have jobs in positions of much higher social, military, or political status. Mind mages always wear robes that mark their adimus rank. These are mentant-blue robes with silver belts or sashes.

Epouranal Mage

Epouranal mages are the most powerful adimus rank in existance, with the possible of exception of the Fantasma (though this has not be explicitly tested). However, this is not a standard adimus rank, because no person can obtain the level of epouranal mage through practice and study. There are only ever tweleve epouranal mages and when one dies, thier extraordinary power is passed to another through a process that is considered a complete mystery.

Epournal mages have only one role; they are the highest prophets and spiritual teachers of Mendala. They spend a great deal of their time in meditation and council and are rarely seen in public unless they are teaching. All epournal mages have mentant-blue robes with gold belts when they are seen in public.

Learning Mentus

In almost all public and private education systems, children have 7 years of standard education starting at age 6 and then 4 years of basic mentus and mandamus education starting at age 13. It is at age 13 when a person makes the ultimate decision of what path to choose in their adimus development. Because of the limitations of the adimus and active learning memory, it is not possible to become a mind mage or a guardian unless you only learn mentus or mandamus respectively.

Most people choose mentant or mentant-non educations as the path toward guardian is extremely difficult. Almost all who attempt it ultimately become mentant-nons or sometimes mandant-nons.

Unlike mandamus, mentus has no standard command set. The wording for mentus is always done in ancient Mendalian language and usually these words control the effects of the mentus.

Basic mentus can be mastered in the 4 years of standard mentus education. After this, normally at age 17 a mentant who wants to become a mind mage can go to masters school. It can take anywhere from 5 to 7 years to achieve the skill level needed to become a mind mage.
