Silent Sam

Sam is one of the quietest members of the group but it is not because of shyness, lack of confidence, or unwillingness to speak his mind. Sam is purposely silent and openly indifferent about most things. He doesn't participate in most group discussions or debates because he almost never has any strong feelings either way. Sam refuses to waste his energy on things that he believes won't make a difference.

However he is not completely apathetic. When something important does come up, he speaks his mind and can be very compelling. However, Sam has a radically different scale when it comes to weighing the importance of an issue.

The Controller

When Sam is transported to Mendala, he is sent almost a year into the past and ends up in the small desert town of [Sunapex]. The people of Sunapex had been praying for a solution to a problem that had plagued them for years, Sand Raiders. Though not as well organized as they had been in the past, these desert villains were still a threat to Sunapex which was far too small to have the resources to defend itself against the roving bands of misfits.

Sam's arrival in Sunapex was unique in that he literally fell from the sky. This abrupt appearance led many to believe that he was an answer to their problems, sent by Elohim. Sam's strange clothes and disorientation only seemed to confirm this. Of course, when Sam heard of their plight, he felt moved to help the Sunapexians but had no idea what he could do.

Shortly after his arrival, Sam discovered that he possessed the extremely rare mentant ability of mind manipulation, which allowed him both to read as well as control minds. He practiced his newfound power and tried to use it against the raiders but because he barely knew mentus he could only focus on one person at a time and it was extremely difficult.

After several months, Sam, while wondering outside the town, found a small cavern that seemed to be composed almost entirely of Traveler Quartz. When he went inside to investigate a strange sensation overtook him, as if his mind had widened, he was able to see more clearly in the mentant realm and seek out potential targets several yards away. He found that from within the cavern, he had the ability to manipulate multiple minds at a time. He used the cave to his advantage and successfully defeated the persistent raider party, driving away most, and controlling the rest so that they did whatever he commanded.
