The New Girl
Tabatha's family moved to Greengale when she was 13-years-old. Though she had come from a larger city, she quickly adapted to the slow-paced, small town life of Greengale. She made friends with Ashley Summerson within a few weeks of settling into her new home. Though the two have completely opposite personalities, they've always been good friends. She became part of the circle of friends that would eventually become the A&A Club. Though she doesn't get along with everyone perfectly, she still integrated well with the group.
Tabatha's move to Greengale sparked an interest in Ace Eastman. It was clear that he was fascinated by her the first day he met her, when Ashley brought her to the Guardman household after school. But Tabatha, unlike the girls who had grown up in Greengale, was not impressed by Ace. She didn't know anything about the wealthy family that he came from, and clearly she did not think Ace was as charming as he did.
In the beginning it seemed as though Tabatha would never respond to Ace's advances, but over time he toned down his approach and the two actually became closer. Though neither will ever admit it, they both seem to have truly fallen for one another and have become quite the "unofficial" couple. Whether or not their egos will allow them to take the next step and admit their affection for one another, only time will tell.
Tabatha joined the Action and Adventure Club after some prodding from Ace and a dare from Alyson Silvers, who insinuated that Tabatha might not be "tough enough" to be a part of the group. The two girls were often antagonizing each other and this, more than anything, is what probably prompted Tabatha to join the group in its second year. She definitely proved Alyson wrong and held her own in the group.
Tabatha has a fiery temper and a sharp tongue, not unlike Becky Gabbie. On the outside she seems very independent, but when she feels comfortable around someone, she feels more comfortable letting out her emotional side as well as some of her insecurities or fears.
The Rarest of Them All
Tabatha was transported to Mendala and stranded in the past just like many of her friends. She arrived in the small peaceful mountain city of [Gilmore], seven years in Mendala's past. Lost and confused she stayed in the city, wondering about the tyrant Davron who had come to earth to kill her friends. She knew that sooner or later, [Davron] would come to Gilmore. Though no one had even heard of him, Tabatha knew instinctively that it would only be a matter of time before he tracked her down.
Convinced that she was the only one still alive, Tabatha trained hard with the mentants and mandants in Gilmore and soon learned, much to everyone's surprise, that she was a Melder. Tabatha saw this rare adimus abnormality as a gift, an advantage that would allow her to stand against Davron. Armed with this new knowledge, she trained even harder. The scholars of Gilmore secretly contacted experts to come to the city and help the eager young student master her abilities. Very few people in the world knew anything about melders so this gave them an opportunity to both help her and study her.
Tabatha's instincts proved to be correct. After years of training, Davron did surface, and though he knew nothing of the melder waiting to fight him, he did come to Gilmore seeking a dimensional rift that would take him to Earth. Fueled by a vengeful rage that had done nothing but grow over time, Tabatha boldly stood against Davron and his horde of monsters all by herself. She easily gained the upper hand and nearly defeated the tyrant but unfortunately, he too had studied melders and knew a great deal about them, even more than the scholars that helped train her. He knew that melders were almost completely vulnerable to mentus and mandamus when the person using it is in direct contact with them. He used this knowledge against Tabatha and was able to incapacitate her.
Though Davron had the opportunity to kill the young melder, he chose not to.
A Dark Devotion
How did it happen? This is the question that haunts the minds of Tabatha's friends. What made her turn from loyal comrade to sworn enemy?
Like Ace, Davron fell in love with Tabatha almost the instant he saw her. This was the reason why he did not kill her, though he was urged by many to do so. At first, Tabatha's fate was unclear. When Davron defeated her in Gilmore she was in a deep comma, and when she awoke, everything was different. Tabatha no longer wanted to fight Davron, instead she wanted more than anything to be by his side. She became his loving and devoted wife and her vengeful wrath was turned upon her former friends in the A&A Club.
With the mark of the seals and the power and skills of a melder, Tabatha became, in many ways, an even bigger threat than Davron. It was clear she knew exactly who she was and that she had been part of the group she was now determined to destroy, but none of this mattered. Her devotion to Davron was absolute and her resolve to kill each and every member of the Fantasmal Fighters was all consuming.
Her wrath seems especially potent against Ace. Whenever she has the opportunity to fight him, she does not turn it down and has stated more than once that she wants him to be the first of the group to die. Ace, of course is torn. In his heart he hopes there is a way to return Tabatha to her former self, but he also knows how big a threat she is as long as she is at Davron's side.
It is clear that Davron truly loves Tabatha and it is this love that blinds him to the risk he is taking by letting her live. More than once Tabatha's uncontrollable desire to seek vengeance against the Fantasmal Fighters has cost him in his campaign, but he ignores these setbacks. In truth, his devotion to Tabatha runs just as deep as her devotion to him.
