Wendigo Day

Established: 18,093 TS
Date: 3rd Dunnie of Waynin
Type: Instider

On the 3rd Dunnie of Waynin 18,093 TS, a phenomenal event occurred: Cassandra Wendigo came back home to visit her family. The reason why this was so extraordinary was because Cassandra was an Epouranal Mage. Epouranal mages traditionally leave their families to fulfill their duties which include meditation, pilgrimages, counsel with other epouranal mages and teaching. In addition, they hardly ever establish families of their own. Because of the dedication they must have to their calling, epouranal mages lead solitary lives.

However, Cassandra Wendigo, the elfish, 182-year-old epouranal mage, came home that day. She said that she came to visit her family; her mother and father and younger brother, just to see how they were doing and to "catch up on things." This shocked her family, as well as the surrounding community. Cassandra did not teach the people or give insight from Elohim. She only came to visit her family. Word spread throughout the lands about this event. When the news reached the other epouranal mages, even they were surprised. The next year, Cassandra repeated her visit, and hundreds of thousands of people around the world followed suit.

Cassandra would never admit to any underlying reasons for her visits, other than seeing her family. As a result of her unorthodox behavior, Cassandra started a worldwide trend, although she denied that this was her original intention. People began to call the 3rd Dunnie of Waynin "Wendigo Day" and it quickly became an instider where people would take time out to be with their family and usually have a feast. Mothers and matriarchs often assert to their respective families, "If High Mage Wendigo can take one day off for her family, so can you!"
