After the Great War, conflict was widespread throughout Mendala. Many of the world's leaders decided to initiate a huge tournament in the year 3,652 TA. Skilled fighters from around the world came to compete in this tournament that was overseen by the Warrior Guild. There were competitions for mentants, mandants, and combatants ofevery skill level.

A few years later, the Warrior Guild decided to host another worldwide tournament. They established specific events, rankings, and rewards. The guild leaders found the endeavor to be very lucrative and decided to continue hosting the event every three years. They receive proceeds from both spectators and contestants. The participants enjoyed the prestige associated with ranking high in the tournament. The Zinidenian Islands, which is still the largest and longest lived sunnitarian nation, was considered the most appropriate place for such an event and so it is hosted their each time.
